Howley's located on Dixie Hwy in West Palm Beach
If you ever find yourself in South Florida make sure you visit Howley's in West Palm Beach. I've been there twice and both times I had excellent food and service. The first time I ordered a citrus chicken salad which was served with a side order of macaroni and cheese. The salad was all white meat chicken with a light orange mayonnaise dressing, stacked high on a flaky croissant. Mixed into the salad were white onions, celery and a heavy dose of black pepper (which I love). Their Mac and cheese was far from a box recipe and baked with additional cheese on top. The whole meal was excellent. The entire restaurant is covered with art from local artist and is for sale. If you enjoy Tim Burton as an artist, chances are you'll walk out with a piece of art form Howley's. Burton is not featured there, however the one piece of art that stands out in my mind is an amazing painting of a pin up girl in cartoon form, dressed in Gothic gear with a few splashes of pink. The drawing could have easily been from one of his movies. Howley's has a very retro look on the inside, which you may not have guessed at first since the outside appears to be a humble diner. Tonight, I ordered their jumbo crab cake on kaiser roll with a side order of sweet potato fries. I truly wish I could pin point how they made their crab cake, unfortunately, I can not. What I can tell you is that is was hands down the best crab cake I ever had. It was loosely packed , baked, creamy and seasoned to perfections. It was served with a sherry mustard sauce on a toasted kaiser bun. The sweet potato fries were exactly that... sweet with a hint of salt. You'd think this meal would fill me up (and it most certainly did) however I managed to have room to top it all off with their peanut butter pie!! To explain this pie would be to explain heaven. It was not peanut butter mouse, or peanut butter chocolate or anything else that would normally be featured in 'peanut butter pie', This was as if they found the thickest, richest peanut butter and plopped it into a fresh, moist pie crust and topped with a sweet magical, light cream... it was awesome. The slice can not be finished alone, so make sure you split it with someone special!! Lastly, I'd like to speak about their service. The waitresses are always smiling, and very friendly. My drink was always filled and the food was delivered quick and hot. All in all, Howley's, with their creative and cute atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food and moderate pricing is a must go too. I will definitely go back!! http://southflorida.menupages.com/restaurants/howleys/
